Seed Entry

Hey all,

If you're a follower of this blog you may be interested in a new project I'm spinning up called The Gnomon.  The goal of The Gnomon will be to put out high quality American style variety cryptics, in batches about about 4, about every other month, for six bucks apiece, starting June 1st, with free previews in February and April.  If that sounds like something you might be interested in solving, head on over and sign up for email updates.  And especially if you're a constructor I'd love to work with you on running a puzzle of yours.  Our style sheet with info about pay rates and rights can be found here.

Also, since last post I appeared in The Browser again, with #207, another collaboration with Longyfan, aka Roland Ingram.  That puzzle came out great and Longy's great and if you do UK cryptics (and even if you don't) you should especially check out this remarkably cool puzzle he made.

Also, for the last few months I've been delighted to serve as editor for the latest round of Rackenfracker puzzles.  If you haven't heard of them, this is the joint name of constructors jmsr525 and Dadgumituh, and on their website they make and sell some amazing variety cryptics with stellar surface-forward cluing.  We just wrapped up work on next week's entry and I think you're in for a treat.

And lastly, last night I was on the Bewilderingly stream, where I presented a new variety cryptic, which I'll also present here for you now.  If you haven't seen it, this stream has hosts Will Nediger, Hayley Gold and Al Saunders bring on different variety cryptic constructors to solve together and talk about the variety cryptic news of the month.  I was on with Mark Halpin and Evan Bernholtz, and man it's a weird feeling to sit there and watch people you really respect solve one of your puzzles.  Anyway, here's the goofy cryptic I put together for them.  I hope you enjoy:
